Design Inspiration: A Collision of Light and Shadow with the Renaissance
Kriemler drew inspiration from the 15th-century Renaissance frescoes of the cultural center of Mantua, Italy, particularly Andrea Mantegna’s “Camera degli Sposi.” The contrast of light and shadow and the detailed depiction of detail in these frescoes created a three-dimensional visual effect that led him to reflect that “elegance is not just superficial; it comes from within: it is a gesture, an emotion, a ray of light, a true expression.”
This inspiration guided his clothing designs to focus on “light volumes,” like the layers of translucent frescoes, creating a play of light and shadow and a sculpted sense of line.
Materials and Craftsmanship: A Blend of Lightness and Dimensionality
The 2025 Collection features silk, panama, technical check, and fine cotton knits, accented with sheer tulle overlays, reminiscent of the colors smeared on a painting. The design language deliberately shapes the fabrics, creating a three-dimensional effect through folds, splicing, and pleats. Raffia, the signature fabric, represents “lightness and a unique texture” in the collection, echoing the brand’s signature horsehair fabric, creating a sense of embossed depth.
